Living A God-Glorifying Life Through Good Health.
(Featured on CNN)

When I was growing up in the '50s and '60s, there was no obesity epidemic, and children were not developing old-age maladies such as heart disease. Cancer, Alzheimer's, and autism were virtually unheard of. Living a healthy lifestyle was a lot easier. More...

Reduce Cancer Risk

There is no doubt that a healthy lifestyle can reduce cancer risk. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States; heart disease is first--though not by much. Cancer strikes 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women. 1.2 million Americans develop cancer every year, and a new cancer is diagnosed every 30 seconds! A particularly sad statistic is that cancer is the major cause of death in children who are between the ages of 1 and 14 years old. These statistics are astounding, and points out that Americans must reduce cancer risk by making wise lifestyle choices.

Did you know that 100 years ago cancer struck only 1 out of 100 people? Today 50% of all adults will get cancer in some form in their lifetime! Clearly we need to reduce cancer risk.

Important Note: Cancer is the number 1 killer of Americans under the age of 85!

Cancer cells are present naturally in everyone's bloodstream. They are restricted from harming the body's cells by special immune cells known as NK (natural killers.)

America only recognizes chemotherapy and radiation as cancer treatments. Both have devastating side effects such as hair loss and vomiting. And if that wasn't bad enough, they also destroy beneficial NK cells and have very poor long-term survival rates.

Other countries are liberal in their cancer treatments. One such country is Japan. Japanese doctors have discovered a natural cancer-fighting compound located in three mushrooms. This mushroom 'cocktail' stimulates the patient's immune system so that NK cells literally 'eat' tumors. The Japanese have taken the proper steps to reduce cancer risk.

Richard Doll and Richard Peto, both formerly of Oxford University, estimated in 1981 that 30 to 35 percent of cancers are caused by diet. Clearly, to reduce cancer risk is within our power. Walter Willett, head of the department of nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, says that their estimate is still in the ballpark.

Cable Network News (CNN) believes that a healthy lifestyle can reduce cancer risk. On its series on cancer prevention, CNN reported that according to the American Cancer Society (ACS), 50 percent of cancer is preventable. This 50 percent is due to lifestyle choice, i.e. smoking, lack of exercise and bad food choices.

In a poll, CNN reported that the average American doesn't think that he has any control over cancer. The truth however is that a healthy lifestyle can reduce cancer risk. Even more remarkable is the fact that cancer can be prevented. Half of all cancer is due to a choice of lifestyle. Cigarette smoking, sedentary lifestyles, and an overindulgence in junk food (fast foods and highly processed and refined foods) accounts for this cancer.

Is there a low cholesterol to cancer link?

Reduce cancer risk

Other than what we inherit through our genes, the other 50 percent of cancer is caused by our highly toxic environment. We breathe, eat and drink dangerous chemicals constantly. Pollutants from industrial plants, exhaust from our vehicles, chlorinated and fluoridated water, mercury and PCBs in fish, and the thousands of chemicals in the food we eat and liquids we drink account for this other 50 percent.

We know that we need to increase our consumption of omega-3 fatty acids--EPA and DHA--to reduce cancer risk. Although others exist, fish is the best source. The only concern are their levels of methyl mercury and other deadly toxins. However, fish such as wild salmon, sardines, sole, or small shellfish don't accumulate mercury. Fish such as wild salmon and sardines are high in omega-3 fatty acids. Eat fish 2 to 3 times a week to reduce cancer risk.

The Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention located in Boston, MA, reviewed all existing studies of cancer in humans. In a report based on this review, it was concluded that one-half of all cancer deaths could be prevented. Of the 50% of preventable cancer, 35 percent is caused by poor diet, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle. The name of this report is Causes of Human Cancer. A healthy lifestyle will not only reduce cancer risk, but prevent the development of cancer in the first place.

A recent Time magazine article reported on a study conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health. The study concerned the number of cancer cases for which obesity was the cause. The total number of cases reported was 100,000 per year. I suspect that this is a conservative number. Here's the breakdown by cancer type:

1) breast: 11%
2) colon: 14%
3) endometrial: 49%
4) esophageal: 39%
5) kidney: 31%
6) non-Hodgkin's lymphoma: 20%
7) pancreatic: 14%

If we could reduce obesity, we could greatly reduce cancer risk.

A new report called Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity, and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective shows that obesity is a cancer risk factor that causes almost as many cancer deaths as smoking. Keeping a healthy weight is a must to reduce cancer risk.

This 500 page report took 5 years to compile. Researchers analyzed over 7,000 clinical trials from a worldwide pool of 500,000 reports written since the 1960s. It was put together by the American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund, and includes contributions by scientists from Harvard University, the National Cancer Institute and many other worldwide institutions.

It's authors say that this cancer report is "the most comprehensive ever published on the evidence linking cancer risk to diet, physical activity and weight." Report co-author and London-based researcher Dr. W. Philip James told CBS News, "This is the first report that clearly shows that the fatter we are, the greater the risk of cancer. It's remarkable how clear that link is." We can reduce cancer risk by simply losing weight.

According to this report, as obesity grows, so does the likelihood of developing breast cancer (especially post-menopausal breast cancer), cancer of the large bowel, and pancreatic cancer. Scientists say that these cancers are the big three.

Report findings say that eating red meat raises the risk of contracting cancer. According to researchers, the maximum amount of red meat that anyone should eat in a week is 18 ounces. Excess red meat consumption has been associated with cancer of the large bowel.

Alcohol, sugary drinks, and salt should also be minimized to reduce cancer risk. This report shows that genes are not as crucial in cancer development as formerly thought. Only 5 to 10 percent of cancer is caused by the genes we inherit from our parents.

Prostate cancer, the leading cancer killer among men, has been linked to dairy products. No less than 16 studies have conclusively made this connection. Pasteurized milk and cheese are loaded with pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics, hormones (BGH- bovine growth hormone), and industrial toxins which attack the prostate. A Harvard study showed that only 2-1/2 servings of dairy products are enough to increase the risk of contracting prostate cancer by more than 30 percent.
Walnuts reduces size and growth of prostate cancer cells.

A study suggests that children who consume a lot of dairy products may have a greater risk of developing colorectal cancer once they become adults. Dr. Jolieke C. Van der Pols of the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia and colleagues looked at almost 5,000 individuals who were followed for an average of 65 years. A correct dietary choice is a leading factor to reduce cancer risk.

Those who grew up in families reporting the highest levels of dairy consumption-nearly 2 cups per day-had almost three-times the risk of developing colorectal cancer as those from families reporting the lowest intake. 94 percent of the dairy intake was milk.

This study was reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, December, 2007. Clearly by cutting or eliminating dairy consumption, we can reduce cancer risk.

Zinc is a proven and powerful prostate cancer fighter. It is an antioxidant and is involved in many crucial biochemical processes in the human body. Zinc is important as it may protect the prostate from damage that could lead to the cancer.

The link between zinc deficiency and cancer has been firmly established by human, animal, and cell culture studies. However one long-term study has found that men who took high levels of zinc supplements or who had taken zinc supplements for at least 10 years more than doubled their risk of developing advanced prostate cancer.

The recommended daily allowance of zinc is 11 mg per day for men and 8 mg for women. The upper limit is 40 mg. More than this can block the absorption of copper. Sources of zinc include shellfish, herring, wheatgerm, lean beef/lamb, free range eggs, lentils, Brazil nuts, almonds, and chicken. (More...)

Despite the reaction of other people to you after having eaten onions, they have been found to greatly reduce cancer risk. Eating two onions a week will reduce cancer risk by the following percentages:

  • colorectal- 38%

  • ovarian- 43%

  • throat- 56%
  • From a recent study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Thirty years ago colorectal cancer was almost unknown. Today it is the single most prevalent cancer among men and women together!

Harvard School of Public Health recently performed a new study concerning colon cancer and eating fish. 19 years worth of dietary and medical records of over 22,000 men were analyzed. The researchers found that as fish consumption increased, colon cancer risk decreased.

People who ate fish five times a week lowered their risk by 40 percent compared to those who ate fish less than once a week; people who ate fish twice a week had their risk lowered by 13 percent. To reduce cancer risk, fish should be eaten two to three times a week. (Read...) (See also...)

Researchers have found that when certain foods are combined, their cancer fighting abilities are enhanced. Combining broccoli with tomatoes is an especially powerful cancer-fighting duo.

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, an antioxidant that neutralizes inflammation promoting free radicals. Lycopene is also effective against prostate cancer. (Always eat tomatoes with an oil such as olive oil. The oil helps the body to absorb the lycopene more effectively.)

Broccoli has the antioxidant sulforaphane, which, along with other compounds, flush carcinogens from the body. Indian food recipes frequently call for the spice turmeric. The nutrient in this spice which attacks cancer is curcumin. When combined with yellow onions, turmeric helps to reduce colon polyps.

Apples, oranges and blueberries are all high in antioxidants. Combined in a fruit salad they work synergistically. To reduce cancer risk, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more than 600,000 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed every year. And the numbers are rising. The most common cancer in the United States, skin cancer results in 6,500 deaths per year.

Experts are now saying that the chemicals in commercially available sunscreens are to blame for the escalating skin cancer. The harmful chemicals identified include allergy-creating PABA, benzophenone-3, homosalate, octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC) and 4-methyl-benzylidene camphor (4-MBC.) One chemical, octyl-methoxycinnamate, was found to kill mouse cells in laboratory studies even when administered in low doses.

This chemical is in 90 percent of the sunscreen formulations on the market. Avoid these dangerous sunscreens to reduce cancer risk (See...)

Researchers performing studies on childhood illnesses have linked these findings to possible causes of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), asthma, and allergies. Also, some chemicals in sunscreen lotions alter estrogen levels in the body which effects DNA and causes cell damage by making free radicals.

Contrary to what the media spins, the overabundance of omega-6 fatty acids, not sunlight, is responsible for increased risk of skin cancer. When sunlight strikes these fats, it is able to change them into cancer-causing molecules. This doesn't happen with omega-3 fats.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) has several guidelines which studies have shown will reduce cancer risk. A plant-based rather than meat-based diet should be followed. Also:

  • eat 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables daily

  • eat whole grains instead of refined grains

  • limit processed and red meats

  • The University of Bordeaux in France found that a heavy exposure to pesticides can increase the risk of brain cancer by 30 percent. To reduce cancer risk from pesticides, buy organic fruits and vegetables.

Harvard University published a study which states that boys who drink tap water with levels of fluoride considered safe by federal guidelines are 5 times more likely to have a rare bone cancer than boys who drink unfluoridated water.

This study which was led by Dr. Elise Bassin found a strong link between fluoridated water and osteocarcoma. Osteocarcoma is a rare and many times fatal bone cancer found only in boys. Interestingly enough, this study backs up previous studies by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the New Jersey health department. These institutions found increased rates of bone cancer in boys who drank fluoridated water.

The American Dental Association now warns against using fluoridated water in baby formula. In addition to boys, infants and pregnant women are highly susceptible to fluoride. A mother's body filters fluoride from breast milk.

Fluoride can only be removed from water by distillation and reverse osmosis. Unfortunately beneficial minerals such as calcium, manganese, and iron are also removed. See...

Meat, especially beef, was given DES (diethylstilbestrol) in the years 1947 through 1977. The purpose was to increase their weight and fat content. DES is a carcinogen.

DES is a synthetic form of estrogen, the female sex hormone. It was prescribed to pregnant women during the 50s, 60s and 70s to prevent miscarriages. DES was also prescribed to pregnant women for complications due to diabetes and high blood pressure.

Selenium is an important trace mineral. It is an essential part of antioxidant enzymes that protect the body's cells against damage by free radicals.

The body only needs a small supply of selenium. Studies have shown conclusively that this mineral is a potent cancer fighter. So much so that the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) says, "Selenium may reduce the risk of certain cancers. Some scientific evidence suggests that consumption of selenium may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer. However, the FDA has determined that this evidence is limited and not conclusive."

Unfortunately, even though our grandparents and perhaps even our parents may have gotten enough selenium through their diet, that is no longer the case. The soil is not as nutrient packed as it was back then. To reduce cancer risk, supplementation with selenium is therefore a must.

A selenium deficiency can lead to hypothyroidism (low thyroid function), cognitive decline, cancer, heart failure, and coronary artery disease (atherosclerosis.) The recommended dietary allowance as set by the United States Food and Nutrition Board is 55 mcg per day. However, other studies show that selenium's anti-cancer properties come into effect at a dosage of at least 200 mcg per day.

Selenium can be found in meats, grains, seafood, and certain nuts such as walnuts and Brazil nuts. Apples are a great source of this mineral.

According to a few studies, selenium may be 50 to 100 times more powerful than any other anti-carcinogen known.

Many forms of selenium available today are virtually worthless. The inorganic forms selenite and selenate are not readily bioavailable. For selenium to be effective, it must be able to be stored in the body's proteins.

The form of selenium which is readily available for the body to use is called selenomethionine.

    Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is traditional medicine's approach to kill cancer cells anywhere in the human body. The drugs are cytotoxic which means that they poison the cells in the body which divide the fastest.

Unfortunately, chemotherapy drugs are indiscriminate. They will target all cells that multiply rapidly-including healthy cells. Cells which are typically fast-growers are immune system cells, stomach, intestine, and hair follicle cells.

Chemotherapy is effective in only 2 percent to 4 percent of cancers. It is mainly effective against Hodgkin's disease, acute lymphocytic leukemia, testicular cancer, and choriocarcinoma.

The cancer industry is highly profitable. It sees profits of around $200 billion annually. According to Dr. Lundberg, editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, "[It's] a marvelous opportunity for rampant deceit. So much money is there to be made that ethical principles can be overrun sometimes in a stampede to get at physicians and prescribers." (Read...)

According to a study published in the December, 2004 edition of Clinical Oncology, chemotherapy has only a 5-year survival rate of a little over 2 percent for all cancers.

The National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) published another study which found that over 4 out of 10 patients who received chemotherapy towards end of life experienced potentially fatal effects. And after reviewing data from over 600 cancer patients who died within 30 days of receiving treatment, it was found that chemotherapy hastened or caused death in 27 percent of those cases.

Traditional Chinese Medicine could boost effectiveness of chemo

Walnuts, almonds, pistachios, and most legumes such as peanuts contain a powerful substance that may defeat cancerous tumors. Researchers have discovered that a key enzyme involved in cancer growth may be stopped by this compound known as inositol pentakisphosphate.

Inositol pentakisphosphate can be found in large quantities in nuts and wheat bran too. Researchers say that this substance could hold promise for future cancer treatments. Add nuts to your diet to reduce cancer risk.

The Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health published a study of the rates of lung cancer in 100 countries. The results of the study suggest that the lack of sunlight may increase the rise of lung cancer. Lung cancer kills more than 1 million people around the world every year.

The study utilized international databases including those of the World Health Organization and national health statistics. Smoking was most strongly associated with lung cancer rates accounting for between 75% and 85%. We can greatly reduce cancer risk by giving up smoking.

Exposure to sunlight, especially UVB light which is the source of vitamin D for the body, also seemed to have an impact. Lung cancer rates were highest in countries furthest away from the equator, and lowest in those nearest.

Celery is another vegetable which has cancer-fighting phytonutrients. It has compounds known as coumarins that assist in preventing free radicals from damaging the body's cells. This decreases the mutations that speed the potential for cells to become cancerous.

Coumarins enhance the ability of some white blood cells, part of the body's immune system. Other compounds in celery known as acetylenics have been demonstrated to stop the growth of tumor cells.

    Cell Phones

I know what you are thinking. What do cell phones have to do with cancer? Unfortunately a lot according to a top Australian neurosurgeon by the name of Dr. Vini Khurana. According to Dr. Khurana, cell phones may cause more cancer in the foreseeable future than smoking or asbestos has.

"It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking, and directly concerns all of us, particularly the younger generation, including very young children," states Dr. Khurana.

Dr. Khurana has made an extensive study of the connection between cell phone use and brain cancer. The use of cell phones for at least ten years could more than double the risk of developing brain cancer. At least three times as many people use cell phones as smoke thus making this a major threat.

According to Dr. Khurana, there has been a jump in brain tumors in people who have used cell phones heavily for a long time on the same side of the head as their 'preferred ear' for making calls. A malignant brain tumor might take between ten and twenty years to develop which makes it hard to prove that there is a direct link between cell phone usage and brain tumors.

However Dr. Khurana says, "In the years 2008-2012, we will have reached the appropriate length of follow-up time to being able to definitely observe the impact of this global technology on brain tumor incidence rates." (Read...)

    Processed Meats

Eating Just One Sausage a Day Raises Your Cancer Risk By 20 Percent!

This headline is the conclusion reached by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) after their analysis of processed meats. The processing raises the levels of carcinogens known as N-nitroso compounds making these meats much more deadly.

According to the WCRF, by eating only one sausage daily will raise your risk of developing bowel cancer. Bowel cancer is one of the most deadliest forms of cancer. As little as 1.8 ounces of processed meat daily--about one sausage or three strips of bacon--increases the likelihood by one-fifth.

Processed meats include bacon, ham, pastrami, salami, hot dogs, and sausages. Hamburgers can also be classified as 'processed' if it has been preserved with salt or chemical additives.

The WCRF also discovered that red meat raises bowel cancer risk though to a lesser extent.

Some processed meats contain MSM (mechanically separated meats.) MSM is a paste and batter-like meat by-product created by forcing bones with edible meat through a sieve or similar device to separate the bone from the edible meat. This is done by a process of high pressure. In 2004 all mechanically separated beef was removed from hot dogs and other processed meats because of concerns that it could cause mad cow disease. Mechanically separated pork, chicken, and turkey is still allowed by law!
Stay away from all processed meats

    Magnesium

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body. Upwards of 50 percent is located in your bones. Without adequate magnesium, your body will accumulate toxins and acid residues, degenerate rapidly, and age prematurely.

A deficiency of magnesium can lead directly to cancer. Over 300 enzymes and ion transport require magnesium. Its role in fatty acid and phospholipid acid metabolism affects the permeability and stability of membranes.

Magnesium protects the cells from aluminum and the heavy metals mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium, and nickel (See also...)

    Statins

Statins are a class of drugs used to treat high cholesterol. They are among the most widely prescribed drugs in the world. The pharmaceutical industry also promotes statins as effective against cancer.

Statins destroy cancer in test tubes due to the fact that they are so toxic. However in the human body, these drugs interfere with your immune system. Statins suppress the immune system. They are so successful at this that they are being researched as immune suppressing choices for organ transplant patients.

Cancer needs a strong and functioning immune system in order to fight it. Statins block the body's production of cellular glutathione-a cell antioxidant needed to protect against cell mutation which can lead to cancer. They also interfere with powerful cancer-fighters such as vitamin D and coenzyme Q10.

Brain cells are weakened by statins. These cells have naturally high levels of cholesterol. Statins are causative cancer agents that are ignored by the medical profession. Cancer risk is high when cholesterol levels are reduced to unnaturally low levels.

    Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is the leading cause of cancer death. It is one of the most difficult cancers to treat. One reason is that in its early stages, there are no symptoms.

When the cancer has reached an advanced stage, symptoms manifest themselves. These symptoms include:

  • upper abdominal pain that can radiate to your back

  • jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes)

  • weight loss

  • depression

  • nausea

  • Pancreatic cancer kills about 34,000 people in the United States every year.

Risk factors which can play a part in the development of pancreatic cancer including smoking, diabetes during pregnancy, family history, seniors (typical age for people diagnosed are 70s and 80s), and being African-American.

Scientists at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have discovered that an extract of the herb nigella sativa can treat this difficult cancer. Well-known in the Middle East and India, this herb is known to provide relief from emphysema, asthma, colic, cancer, and other diseases. The extract from nigella sativa blocks pancreatic cancer cell growth, and enhances the built-in cellular function that causes programmed cell death (apoptosis.)

According to a study by researchers at the University of California at San Francisco and published in American Journal of Epidemiology, eating a diet high in whole grains and other fiber rich foods can reduce your risk of developing pancreatic cancer.

Grain intake among 2,233 Bay area residents, 532 of whom were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, was studied. The study participants who ate 2 or more servings of whole grain a day were 40% less likely to develop pancreatic cancer than those who ate less than one serving a day.

Those who ate 26.5 or more grams of fiber daily had a 35% lower risk of developing pancreatic cancer than those who ate 15.6 grams or less.
Lactoferrin highly effective against pancreatic cancer.
    Sugar and pancreatic cancer.
Conventional oncology for pancreatic and other cancers is a failure.

    Obesity

Scientists have long known of a link to cancer from obesity. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) says that obesity increases the risk of the following cancers: colon, breast (in postmenopausal women), endometrium, kidney, esophagus, gallbladder, ovaries, and pancreas.

The National Cancer Institute reports that overweight and obese people have twice the risk of developing a particular type of esophageal cancer known as esophageal adenocarcinoma than people of normal weight. The incidence of this type of cancer has grown 350% over the last 30 years--right along with obesity.

Though not known for sure, researchers have theories about the esophageal cancer/obesity connection. They say that the probable culprit is inflammation. According to Dr. Leo Galland, author of The Fat Resistance Diet, "inflammation promotes cancer." People with abdominal obesity have metabolic disturbances, including inflammation, says Dr. Galland.

Cancer is the leading killer of Americans under the age of 85. Are you finding it difficult to lose excess inches around your waist?

    Iodine

Iodine is critical in regards to a reduced risk of cancer. It has a very important role in yhe body's elimination system by inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death.) Iodine aids in the growth and development of cells, and it destroys cancer cells and cells infected with viruses.

Some of the symptoms of a deficiency of iodine are: muscle cramps, cold hands and feet, weight gain, poor memory, constipation, depression, headaches, edema, myalgia, weakness, dry skin, and brittle nails.

iodineFood sources of iodine include most sea foods (with the exception of fresh fish), unrefined sea salt, kelp and other seaweeds, butter, pineapple, artichokes, asparagus, dark green vegetables, and eggs. Vegetables such as cabbage and spinach block iodine absorption when eaten raw or unfermented.

To assess cancer risk due to iodine deficiency, an in-house study looked at 60 cancer patients. They were given the iodine-loading test and then measured for urinary excretion. All 60 patients were discovered to be seriously deficient in stores of iodine!

Native Japanese eat a daily average of 13.8 mg of elemental iodine, and their rates of prostate cancer is very low (Read...)

    Chlorophyll

This is the miracle of nature that gives plants their green color. More importantly, it provides the means whereby plants convert sunlight into energy--a process known as photosynthesis.

Laboratory studies show chlorophyll to be a powerful cancer fighter. Spinach has one of the highest concentration of chlorophyll--about 300 to 600 milligrams (mg) per ounce. Other concentrated sources of chlorophyll are:

  • asparagus

  • bell peppers

  • broccoli

  • Brussels sprouts

  • green cabbage

  • celery

  • collard greens

  • green beans

  • green peas

  • kale

  • leeks

  • green olives

  • parsley

  • romaine lettuce

  • sea vegetables

  • Swiss chard

  • turnip greens
  • Chlorophyll and its derivative cholorphyllin are natural anti-cancer agents. In a laboratory study, spinach stopped the growth of colon cells in rats initiated by heme. This is a iron-containing pro-oxidant contained in red meat. Heme iron is associated with an increased risk of colon cancer.

Diets containing chlorophyll blocked the formation of a toxic heme metabolite. It is speculated that diets high in green vegetables may reduce colon cancer risk from heme obtained from red meat.

    Organic Vegetables

Not only are organic fruits and vegetables higher in vitamin and phytonutrients than non-organic varieties, but more potent cancer fighters as well. A 2003 study published in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry, concluded that organic foods are better for fighting cancer. In 2005, scientists discovered that rats who ate organic food experienced more health benefits than those fed conventional foods.

    Specifically, organically fed rats:

  • had improved immune systems

  • weighed less and were slimmer

  • had higher concentrations of vitamin E in their blood
  • Plants contain flavonoids which are thought to protect against cancer, heart disease, and age-related neurological dysfunctions. These flavonoids are believed to protect plants against harmful insects, bacterial and fungal infection, and photo-oxidation.

Flavonoids help fight free radical damage which is believed to be responsible for cancer and associated with heart disease.

    Resveratrol

Research shows that red grape extract resveratrol is selective in targeting malignant cells for destruction. Chemotherapy is unable to select only malignant cells, targeting malignant and nonmalignant cells as well as producing unpleasant side effects.

The threat of cancer was reduced in resveratrol injected mice. The compound halted the growth of damaged cells. This research was performed at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

    Low Cholesterol

A new and comprehensive study has discovered that the artificially low LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol numbers promoted by the American Heart Association (AHA) leads to a greater risk of developing cancer, and of dying. Currently, the AHA recommends a LDL of 100 for prevention and 70 for high risk patients.

The new study found that a LDL cholesterol reading of 107 leads to a 33 percent greater risk of developing cancer while a reading of 87 leads to a 50 percent greater risk. The lower the LDL number, the greater the potential risk of developing cancer.

Researchers found the results of their study so disturbing that they called for a statistical reanalysis of data from ALL existing cholesterol studies. The data was then used in more accurate statistical models that showed true risk.

A LDL level of 126 was identified as the ideal cholesterol number by this new study. LDL readings greater than 146 and less than 107 showed a 33 percent greater cancer risk; LDL readings greater than 164 and less than 87 had a 50 percent greater risk.

The researchers who called for the artificially low cholesterol numbers all had connections to the pharmaceutical industry which produces cholesterol-lowering drugs. The more people they can capture with low numbers, the more statin drugs they sell and the more profit they make.

    Polio Vaccines

Unlike diseases such as colds, cancer is not contagious. But, according to research reviewed in an article written by Neil Z. Miller in 2004, and published in Medical Veritas, it can be transferred from one person to another.

It seems that the polio vaccine given in the years 1954 through 1963 to between 30 and 100 million Americans transferred harmful substances too. Miller wrote that in 1959 a government researcher said that the polio vaccine was contaminated with a viral agent that had the potential to trigger cancer in human beings.

The government scientist was named Bernice Eddy and was well respected. She was silenced and subsequently demoted.

Later two other scientists confirmed Eddy's finding. The viral agent originated from diseased monkey glands used to culture the polio vaccinations which were given not only to Americans, but to citizens in foreign countries too.

Doctors Ben Sweet and M.R. Hilleman from the Merck Institute for Therapeutic Research were the researchers who confirmed Eddy's discovery. They found that monkey virus code named SV-40 from Rhesus monkey kidneys was used in the polio vaccines. This virus was not destroyed during the normal vaccine process.

It was found that almost all Rhesus monkeys had this virus. The polio vaccine with this contaminant was injected into millions of citizens globally. It was confirmed that SV-40 had the potential to trigger cancer in human hosts.

In studies conducted during the '90s, SV-40 was discovered in the tumors of many cancer patients. One study which was carried out at the Loyola Medical Center in Chicago showed that almost 4 out of every 10 bone cancer patients and 6 out of every 10 patients diagnosed with mesothelioma had SV-40.

Research reveals that SV-40 can interfere with a cell's ability to fight malignancy because it blocks an important protective protein.

In 1998, a national database revealed that in the states where the polio vaccine was given the most contained higher rates of certain cancers. There was a fifth more brain cancers and mesothelioma rates shot up 178 percent. Also, bone cancer rates were 1000 percent higher in states where the contaminated polio vaccines were used the heaviest.

The states where the infected vaccines were used the heaviest are:

  • Connecticut

  • District of Columbia

  • New York

  • Maryland

  • Delaware

  • Iowa

  • Illinois

  • Massachusetts

  • Minnesota

  • Michigan

  • New Hampshire

  • Oregon

  • Pennsylvania

  • Rhode Island

  • Utah

  • Vermont

    Resistance to Cancer

Just as some people have a stronger immune system making them less likely to get sick, so it is with resistance to developing cancer. Researchers have discovered that granulocytes, cancer immune cells, vary in effectiveness from person to person.

NK cells can identify and destroy tumor cells in your body, but their number is much less than the population of granulocytes.

Researchers at Wake Forest University of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina say that not only does the effectiveness of granulocyte cells differ by person, but they also change over time within individuals. In a 24 hour period, granulocyte cells from one person killed 97 percent of the cervical cancer cells while in another person, they only destroyed 2 percent.

Granulocyte cells are less effective in people over the age of 50. Stress played a part in their effectiveness too. Also, during the winter months, granulocyte cells' effectiveness further dropped.

"Nobody seems to have any cancer-killing ability during the winter months from November to April," lead researcher Zheng Cui said.

    Turmeric

The spice turmeric is found abundantly in curry powder. Turmeric has the distinction of being the most powerful of all natural anti-inflammatories.

Turmeric encourages cancer cell death, stops tumor growth, and even boosts the effectiveness of traditional chemotherapy treatment. There is research which shows that turmeric's effectiveness is increased when it is mixed with black pepper and olive oil (use extra-virgin.)

Turmeric carried in your typical supermarket represents only 20% of the total contents. Your best bet is to purchase turmeric from a spice shop (Read further...)

    Baking Soda

Sodium bicarbonate, better known as baking soda, may be the most effective as well as the least expensive cancer cure in existence. It is a natural and harmless form of one of traditional medicine's gold standard cancer treatments, chemotherapy. It destroys cancerous cells without chemo's devestating side effects.

Italian oncologist Dr. Tullio Simoncini says the following concerning sodium bicarbonate, "In the future -- I hope soon -- I am convinced that it will be possible to treat and cure any tumor within 15-30 days with either a pill or an injection in the morning and in the evening when there is targeted pharmacological research. But, again, we now have to work with what we have.

Dr. Simoncini refuses to administer traditional cancer treatments to his patients. His research has shown that 99 percent of bladder and breast cancer can be cured in only six days by injecting sodium bicarbonate directly to the infected site.

Sodium bicarbonate is the time honored method to 'speed up' the return of the bodys bicarbonate levels to normal. Bicarbonate is inorganic, very alkaline and like other mineral type substances supports an extensive list of biological functions. Sodium bicarbonate happens to be one of our most useful medicines because bicarbonate physiology is fundamental to life and health, Dr. Sircus writes in Winning the War on Cancer (See also...)

    Spicy Foods

Remember that burning sensation you felt in your mouth when you ate a bowl of chilli, or some other spicy food? How about the tears it brought to your eyes? Well, that sensation is caused by capsaicin, a natural antioxidant.

Now science has shown that the capsaicin in spicy foods can kill cancer cells. The World Health Organization says that countries whose diet is high in spicy foods have lower cancer death rates for men and women than countries in which spicy foods are not a big part of its diet.

"This is incredibly exciting and may explain why people living in countries like Mexico and India, who traditionally eat a diet which is very spicy, tend to have lower incidences of many cancers that are prevalent in the western world" (Dr. Timothy Bates who discovered the link between spicy foods and cancer in other countries.)

According to Dr. Bates, capsaicin attacks cancer cells at their very foundation but doesn't harm surrounding, healthy cells. In laboratory studies, capsaicin prevents the growth of cancerous cells.

So when you buy that salsa for your dips, forget the mild and go for the hot.
