Sugar Addiction Sets the Stage For Chronic Illnesses

Sugar addiction runs high in America. Due to junk and snack food manufacturers putting large quantities of sugar in their products, Americans are consuming amounts which put them at risk for many chronic diseases.

Like unprocessed rice and wheat, natural sugar is brownish in color prior to processing. Brown sugar is nothing more than refined white sugar with a coating of molasses on it. Refined sugar provides no nutrients and just adds calories (useless fat) to the body. Following are 20 reasons to avoid sugar in the diet (there are many more):

  • Sugar can suppress your immune system and impair your defenses against infectious disease.

  • Manufacturers intentionally load their products with sugar. They know that sugar is addictive. Breakfast cereals which are targeted to children have so much sugar per serving, that they are well on the way to having a sugar addiction.

Food manufacturers disguise the sugar in their processed products under a seemingly endless number of names. Here are some of them:

  • corn syrup
  • high fructose corn syrup
  • evaporated cane juice
