Organic Product Watch

Product watch serves to evaluate natural and organic food and personal care products. The product will be evaluated on its ingredients and/or nutrition label.

Many Americans are becoming more educated and concerned about their health. Manufacturers see this and are responding with a dizzying number of products to meet consumer demand.

Some of these products are rip-offs-products with a natural and/or organic flavor but failing to meet health concerns overall. I will alert you to these shortcomings. They are marketed just to tap into the huge consumer dollars which are spent every year.

ShopRite Certified Organic Raisin Bran: made with organic whole grain; this product has the USDA organic seal. Certified organic by Oregon Tilth. Ingredients:

Nutrition Facts: protein 15g; dietary fiber 6g; sugars 15g.

Comments: this is an excellent product.

Eden Organic No Salt Added Beans:

Canned beans usually come packed with anywhere from 250 to 450 milligrams of additional sodium. Eden no salt added beans have just naturally occurring sodium (10 to 45 milligrams per half-cup.)

Eden's cans are also free of BPA-laced epoxy resin lining.
